Today, December 10th, is a day which has been established in our planet to recognized and remember the tragic deaths and murders of animals on our Planet. This day is officially known as "International Animal Rights Day."
As stated at the website, "Uncaged:Protecting Animals

"The annual International Animal Rights Day (IARD) - 10th December - aims to remember the animal victims of human tyranny and call for the recognition of our Universal Declaration of Animal Rights (UDAR). The goal of this historic campaign is to build on the recognition of human rights, and persuade humanity that kindness and respect is due to all sentient creatures. Click here to find out how what you can do to support International Animal Rights Day."

"Thousands of animal rights supporters across the world hold candlelit vigils and other inspiring events to mark the 13th annual IARD. Ethical pioneers united to remember the billions of animals subjected to deliberate cruelty and killing across the world every year. This coordinated global day of action has intensified calls for the recognition of the rights of all sentient beings to life, liberty and natural enjoyment."

"Based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), signed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10th 1948, the UDAR seeks protection of similar rights for animals calling for an end to "exploitation or oppression in the name of science or sport, or for use as food, for commercial profit or for other human ends".

"International Animal Rights Day and the UDAR were launched on December 10th 1998, 50 years to the day after the UDHR was agreed. "

The official website for this day is: where it is stated:

"This day is an opportunity to remind society that freedom, justice and dignity are inclusive terms, since suffering and the desire to live are not confined to a particular race, sex, social position... or species."

What can you do to help animals on this day (and on all days of the year for that matter!): As stated by one person at the website:

"Start with something little and together we'll soon be making a huge difference!" I am sure you can think of some way that you can help an animals or animals in the remaining  hours of December 10th, 2011. If you cannot do it today, then promise yourself and our animal friends that you will think of something to do to help animals as soon as you can! Are you  willing to commit to your promise on my blog? I hope so, because I love animals and I am going to make sure I do something to help an animal which lives around me,today or as soon as possible. Thank you!

I believe one of the best things that we humans can do is to allow all animals on this planet to have rights. At the present time in our World, many humans are killing, harming or exploiting animals on a daily basis. If animals had rights, then they  would be protected from humans that for some reason think they can do anything they want to animals. It is a scientific fact that many humans who harm animals in some way or form:(ie injure, kill or imprison against the will of the animal), often end up harming a human or a human being in some way in the future in a serious way! <:( As stated by an expert of criminal behavior:

"Acts of cruelty to animals are not mere indications of a minor personality flaw in the abuser; they are symptomatic of a deep mental disturbance. Research in psychology and criminology shows that people who commit acts of cruelty to animals don’t stop there—many of them move on to their fellow humans. “Murderers ... very often start out by killing and torturing animals as kids,” says Robert K. Ressler, who developed profiles of serial killers for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)." source:Daniel Goleman, “Experts See Parallels Between Dahmer, Previous Serial Killers,” New York Times News Service, 11 Aug. 1991.

Thoughts worth thinking about

"Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes and cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. What we continually think about eventually will manifest in our lives."-Sidney Madwed

Laws alone can not secure freedom of expression; in order that every woman and man present their views without penalty, there must be spirit of tolerance in the entire population.- Albert Einstein Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. - Leo Buscaglia

A person's true wealth is the good he or she does in the world. - Mohammed

Our task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. -Albert Einstein

The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others. - Ghandi

The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves. - Helen Keller

Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. Remember that fear always lurks behind perfectionism. Confronting your fears and allowing yourself the right to be human can, paradoxically, make yourself a happier and more productive person. - Dr. David M. Burns

Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures. -His Holiness The Dalai Lama

Mankind's true moral test, its fundamental test (which lies deeply buried from view), consists of its attitude towards those who are at its mercy: animals. And in this respect mankind has suffered a fundamental debacle, a debacle so fundamental that all others stem from it. -

Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being

The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them. That's the essence of inhumanity. -George Bernard Shaw

Ego's trick is to make us lose sight of our interdependence. That kind of ego-thought gives us a perfect justification to look out only for ourselves. But that is far from the truth. In reality we all depend on each other and we have to help each other. The husband has to help his wife, the wife has to help the husband, the mother has to help her children, and the children are supposed to help the parents too, whether they want to or not.-Gehlek Rinpoche Source: "The Best Buddhist Writing 2005 pg. 165

The hostile attitude of conquering nature ignores the basic interdependence of all things and events---that the world beyond the skin is actually an extension of our own bodies---and will end in destroying the very environment from which we emerge and upon which our whole life depends.
