Groningen Chess Festival 2009:Open section round 8 standings, Timman-Van Kampen match

The Groningen Chess Festival is currently taking place in Groningen, The Netherlands. Groningen is the capital city of the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. and has  a population of 185,000.  4  events are occuring at this chess festival,  an Open A tournament and a match between GM Jan Timman (elo 2591)  and International Master  Van Kampen, Robin (elo 2470) highlight this year's Festival. There are three other tournaments as well: a "B" event, a "C" event, and a compact tournament (which allows players to play more games within a shorter time frame).

In the Timman-Van Kampen match: Timman won the first game, then Van Kampen rebounded and won the second game,the third game of the match was drawn, and Timman won game 4 to take the match by a score of  2.5-1.5. Both Timman and Van Kampen expressed their desire to the organizing committee that they would like to continue playing their match, at this time it is not known if any arrangements have been made to do so.
