Chess Championships of China

At present the Women's and Men's chess championships of China are being played in Xinghua Jiangsu, China . These championships are being played from May 26th until June 6th 2009.

"Dubbed as “Town of Han and Tang”, Xinghua has been a town for duration of more than a century since it was established in 920 A.D. Not just a Jiangsu’s historical and cultural city, Xinghua is now one of the top 100 cities (county-level) in China with its comprehensive economic capability."

"Xinghua City is situated between the two prefecture jurisdictions, Yangzhou and Yancheng, and borders Taizhou on south. Lying in a basin, the city has a low elevation over sea lever, only 1.8 m in average, and is nicknamed a big “Water Town”, surrounded by 22 rivers and 13 lakes in diverse sizes and lengths. "

"The city occupies a land of 2,393 square kilometers, the largest city under Taizhou’s jurisdiction. The population is about 1.6 million."

1st-3rd: GM Zhao Xue 2531 2.5 points, WGM Shen Yang 2420, Tan Zhongyi 2436 all have 2.5 points,
4th-5th: IM Wang Yu A 2364, Wang Xiaohui 2265, both have 2 points
6th: WFM Ding Yixin 2281 1.5 points
7th-10th: Ju Wenjun 2454 1 point, WGM Zhang Jilin 2335 WIM Zhang Xiaowen 2340
WGM Gu Xiaobing 2336, all have 1 point
11th: Wang Jue 2162 and WIM Xu Tong 2231, both have 1/2 point .

Here are the standings in the Men's Championship after 3 rounds of play:

1. GM Wang Hao 2696 2.5 points
2nd-5th. Ding Liren 2458 , GM Bu Xiangzhi 2704, GM Zhou Weiqi 2563, GM Zhou Jianchao 2635, all have 2 points.

6th-8th. GM Ni Hua 2724, GM Li Chao B 2643, Ji Dan 2342, all have 1.5 points
9th-11th GM Zhang Pengxiang 2638, GM Hou Yifan 2590, GM Li Shilong 2557, all have 1 point
12th GM Liang Chong 2511, 0 points
